Modern Orange
Modern Orange is the studio name of creator picos — and the name for that creative work itself.
What I'm aiming for is a game where complex events gradually emerge from a small, closed world built on simple principles.
When a limited set of rules keeps interacting, situations arise that no one could have predicted. Chance and surprise. By leaving a little room for the imagination, the player is free to discover their own meaning and their own story. That is the kind of game design I have pursued since the very start of my career.
But the indie game making I had kept up since 1998 went on a long pause after 2015. Now, in autumn 2026, with AI's ability to build software improving dramatically, I have decided to return to making games in earnest. Coding, 3D modeling, animation and more — production steps that once took an enormous amount of time can now draw on the great power of AI.
To once again make, with my own hands, the games I always wanted to make.
picos's game making picks up where it left off — starting here.

Kacho Refine
2026 / Web / Available October 20, 2026 [No sign-up · Completely free]
Kacho (Kachofugetsu) is an action puzzle game that first appeared in 1998 as Windows shareware. A feature-phone version followed in 2002, and in 2009 it was released worldwide on Android Market (now Google Play) as "Kacho," where it was downloaded more than 10,000 times.
"Kacho Refine" uses the latest AI technology (coding, 3D modeling and more) to "refine" the series into a 3D web game for today.
On top of the original 30 stages, it adds a new Stage Builder that lets players share the stages and replays they create with a URL. Build your own stages, share them, and have fun together!

WORKS
Kachofugetsu
1998 / Windows 95
A puzzle-action game released as Windows 95 shareware. Built around the mouse-click interface, it never lets you control the hero directly: instead you rotate the arrow panels on the board, steering the hero and the enemies at the same time. Collect the four panels — Flower, Bird, Wind and Moon — and guide picos to the goal.
Modern Orange's very first project.
Kachofugetsu Mobile
2002 / Mobile phone (DoJa/MIDP)
"Kachofugetsu" rebuilt for Japanese feature phones and distributed on a mobile game site. The rendering was tuned so that it would run even on the early 502i handsets.
Real-Time Adventure -EOW-
2005 / Mobile phone (DoJa/MIDP)
A new, unknown life begins in the space colony where you have washed ashore. It turns out to be a strange place where your rank is decided by winning or losing battles...! A "real-time adventure" that simulates the player character and the NPCs on equal terms.

Kacho
2009 / Android
"Kachofugetsu" rebuilt for a global audience on Android Market (now Google Play). It was featured in Android Market's "Pick Up" section at the time and downloaded more than 10,000 times.
Panelon
2015 / Android / iOS
Guide Pero, an angel cat, and turn every switch panel ON to clear the level! But whenever the enemy "Ai-chan" steps on a switch, it flips back OFF. Carrying over elements such as the arrow panels, this puzzle game expands the world of Kachofugetsu into a full-3D quarter view.
AI MUSIC
I have been making AI music with Suno since spring 2024.
I love Japanese pop (kayōkyoku), City Pop, Hi-NRG and Eurobeat from the '80s to the early '90s, and in the mid-2000s I made music at a semi-pro level under the name "picos," programming tracks in FL Studio.
With melodic four-on-the-floor music at the core, I borrow the power of Suno's AI to blend different genres and eras, searching for melodies and arrangements that truly move me. Over 2024–2025 I steadily released more than 100 tracks on X, YouTube and elsewhere.
These days I release at a slower, irregular pace, but I keep sharing new work, mainly on YouTube.
